I've loved hip-hop since i got a raising hell tape when i was 8...  It made me learn to be different than the other white kids in my school because i loved beatboxing and not metalica, megadeth, and slayer...  You all should check out the underground hip-hop scene from Minneapolis...

Real music deserves real respect.

If Rap/Hip Hop doesn't get the respect, what does that tell you?

The same things happened with me.

I used to love Hip Hop as a kid until I got rid of my youthful aggressiveness and realised that in general Rap lirics are absolute shit.

All they 'sing' about is how many bitches they get or how much money they have and maybe slag off a few celebreties to try and be controversial.

I've grown up.

I'm supporting the rise of UK grime and hippy-hoppy acts.

Sway DaSafo I am a big fan of. Be sure to check out his fun tracks, "Mercedes Benz and Blackberry Gang". A few years ago he won 2005 MOBO's (Music Of Black Origin) Best Hip Hop Act, beating heavyweights such as Fifty Cent and 'The Game', who were also nominated.

Bashy is another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4k2OkWfhQk

It certainly isn't all bitches and guns. Although it is a shame most US artists are sticking to a formulaic trend.

BAHAHA!

real music:

DOOF DOOF DOOF NIGGA PULL MA TRIGGA FKN BITCHES WAT UP G-UNIT DOOF DOOF DOOF

hmm doesnt really sound "real" if they dont actually play instruments, or just play a RECORDING DURING THEIR LIVE SHOWS LOL.

I have a little respect for old school and underground hip hop artists, but the new stuff is shit.

In general hip hop is lame.

I like alternative rock, like Radiohead, Interpol, Editors, Band of Horses.

Its not like white guys either listen to metal (Megadeth is shitty metal anyway) or have to act like a black dude.

In all honesty I do like and listen to some rap/hip-hop, but given that I can't understand music lyrics very well (I have a peculiar hearing defect), I generally prefer tune based music rather than word based music, which cuts out almost all rap and a lot of hip hop
