I have suggestion for the karma system. How about members can also give not just positive karma to good members but also negative karma to spammers trolls,ETC. Frogboy Kyro can we have a new option to give negative karma?

Were you writing that long of a karma message, or deliberately looking for the character limit?
How about this...Inorder to give someone Bad_Karma , you first need to generate Good_Karma , like ammunition.
Haha...definitely a funny idea.
Sentient species taste better...

Things I'd like to see:
Users accrue karma over time. Higher user ranks accrue it faster.
You can only give away karma you have
Negative karma can be given anonymously
Negative karma can be reported to forum moderators for abuse (Over-reporting would be handled by the same moderators)
Karma would have some value - coupons for Stardock apps? Fake gifts (like in Facebook)? Rides on Frogboy's boat?

Definitely the first, probably sub-consciously the second.

Propositions:
-There should be different kinds of karma, so that you can indicate what behavior you're referring to.
-People with a lot of positive karma should be able to give out more karma to others.
- N00bs should not be able to give karma, until they have some positive karma.
- Posts that accumulate large negative score should be deleted. We don't want to bother reading something the majority of people doesn't like, do we?
- Threads with positive karma should float up and change color, and get some kind of blinking icon.
-People with large negative karma should be automatically tagged with appropriate tags, like "moron", "idiot", "troll", etc.
-People with large amounts of positive karma should be also tagged, like "awesome dude", "community defender", "the guy we all agree with", etc.
- For emergency cases there should be some kind of "shut the fuck up" button, which greatly decreases the karma of the target at the expense of your own.
Optional:
- Add features that would make the forum similar to RPGs: hit points, skills, classes, etc. Like on forumwarz.
- Restrict the length of posts. I mean, who would want to read through 8 KB of bullshit just to vote someone up or down? That's inefficient.
- All the karma information should be updates in near real-time through AJAX.
- There should be something on this forums that uses Google technology, because Google is awesome.
That's my modest opinion. If you don't like my opinion, it's just your opinion. Remember, having discussions is not that important. The important thing it to be social and promote niceness of the community, and participate, and contribute. Also, if you're against negative karma you support trolls.

Karma has now become too complicated for me.
Can't we just give someone Kudos instead? Personally i'd perfer a Kudo to a Karma. Great, now im hungry too.
I just don't see why this post is even still going except for the wise cracks. I'd give you all Kudos but alas, i can only give possitive Karma.
Can't someone be rewarded for a post without all the rules and tags; as much as i really want to be "the guy we all agree with". oh to dream......
What I'd REALLY like is to have my medals back...

Rides on Frogboy's boat?
I the only one who noticed this?
But I do believe that negative karma is a very BAD idea. It can, and WILL be abused. As aforementioned, in every flame war, it shall be used as a tool of destruction. Like 'player reputation' on xbox live, its messed up. barely any people give good reps, and the annoying ones give bad reps. Its an unbalance. "Those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind." - Idontknowwho. Its a great quote, and sums it up.

I saw it, but then the image of that bee-hive came to mind and I shrunk away.

I hope you understand that my post above was sarcastic.
The problem with sarcasm in 21st century is that very few things are seen as too absurd to be in earnest.

I was rolling with that final paragraph "If you don't like my opinion, it's just your opinion."
Note my "lol" at the end of the post...and the lack of a karma point w/ a dissing comment from me. /sigh Nothing stop others from doing that now and signing my name... ~hands head low~.
It takes a bunch to get me toasted...A certain person with the name of a element was one who knew the buttons.

My personal reputation goes beyond a simple CG2 forum... karma is fun though, good for the mood and provides a way for people to somehow judge other participants.
What i find odd is that someone (no specific person targeted, btw) would crank out in the double-digits for being such a nice chit-chatter in the off-Topic threads!
Is this a forum about a game?
A community of hard-core gamers who contribute to the overall success of it?
Helping others in the process, cuz that's what their personality is?
Or, is it... some Joe-Schmoe meets Kinky Lucy from Denver to discuss the next US presidential election or petroleum prices at the pump?
I guess, life itself IS a karma quest. But negatively speaking, the best is never cool enough and the worst is always burning on the edges.
Honesty.
Value.
Time.
Participation.
Ya know...
